To A Thousand Year Leap Into The Future!

An Awe-Inspiring Anecdote of Bengaluru

Down My Memory Lane!

When I arrived as an extremely poor and frail, disease-ridden (due to overreacting immune system), unassuming, barefooted, very nervous, and fearful small-town teenager (of Santhebennur, Davangere District) in Bangalore in 1964—today’s Bengaluru -the capital of Karnataka, India, which is also nicknamed as the Silicon Valley of India—to pursue my pre-university education, I noticed a striking scenery on the roads of Bengaluru.

The roads were full of bicycles during the peak hours. Finding a car was a rare sight among the ocean of bicycles on the roads of Bengaluru of those days, in contrast to today’s opposite situation now— i.e., noticing a bicycle is a rare sight among too many cars. Those days, owning even a modest bicycle was a symbol of some amount of status. Owning a basic economy model car of today was the status of the rich!

One fine morning, I went to a hotel for breakfast. I saw 15 to 20 bicycles parked in a row on their individual stands in front of the hotel. When I came out after the nice breakfast, I saw a strong breeze passing over the first bicycle in the row. It fell on the adjacent bicycle, which in turn triggered the falling of the next bicycle, and so on and on..... Eventually, all the bicycles were grounded in a matter of a few seconds!

This was a great source of fun to the onlookers, including me—and needless to say, the outburst of laughter was spontaneous! These kinds of episodes were quite common in the bicycle-dominated era of Bengaluru of those days.

While I was amused by the falling of every bicycle due to the falling of the first bicycle, I was not able to perceive the magnificent, mind-blowing hidden message in those episodes. Those hilarious visuals kept popping up in my mind too often, relentlessly. It was very intriguing and mysterious. I was not able to decode why my brain was harbouring those visuals of falling bicycles relentlessly until...  

Finally -The Unravel! 

27 years later, in 1991 at Mira Road (Mumbai), when I made the breakthrough that led to the designing of UCTR as narrated in previous webpages, suddenly, the magnificent hidden message among those falling bicycles became evident like a flash of lightning .

My God... look at the tenacious intuitive ability of human brains which nurture and preserve such obscure visual events until their meaning becomes evident—without any time limit! In this case, it was 27 years! This is what super differentiates the human brain... so ingenious and yet so unpredictably meaningful!
